The Raw Bar...Please Let Me Go!

There is a tiny little bar down at the historic district of Jekyll Island called Latitudes Raw bar. It is known to have some of the best raw and steamed oysters around. You can in theory get a ½ peck of oysters, drink some cold draught beer, and watch the sun set over the beautiful marsh.

This idea appeals to me in the strongest way. I have attempted to do this activity since I thought about it on Wednesday.

This is not meant to be a social event for all the family. Very few of the people I am with like or even drink beer. Even fewer eat raw or nearly raw seafood. I happen to do both and rarely do I get the perfect convergence of beer, oysters, and sunset over the sea.

I can hear the place calling me now…Reggie! Reggie! Reggie!

But it seems that every time I want to head there some one diverts me or suggests I do something else. I told Gigi I was going to this raw bar tonight if I had to crawl over broken glass to get there. She suggested I go to St Simons Island where I’m sure you can find some oysters.

I don’t want oysters! I want oysters at that bar, at that location. The place I have fanaticized about now for three days.

Why is this so difficult? It must be a guy thing. I’m going to eat my damn oysters and drink my beer at this raw bar if it kills me.

I may not eat raw oysers but I would gladly join you tomorrow evening for some cold beer and some form of cooked seafood for me ;)

If you do not make it tonight we could work that in tomorrow if that fits into plans. I know they have live music as well and there is nothing I enjoy more than live music on the water.

Definitely sounds like a plan. They have live bands at the marina and at the wharf. I couldn't get anyone to go last night. This isn't a party crowd at all. Heck, I'm only good until 10:30 or 11:00 PM tops.

Jessie...I see you are a Huntington Beach girl. We have friends there. We stayed at the Montage at Laguna and took the PCH to visit them a few years ago. We ate a great meal at an ocean side place. The new chef there was from Charlotte. He owned a place in the Noda area with a partner before moving to Huntington Beach. Small world, huh?

Honestly. I go on vacation with you, and you don't even link to my site with any regularity?? Seriously. Dude. I'm decimated. Totally broken. Crushed.

Given this betrayal, I'm totally glad that I threw those 2 dinner rolls at you. Stinker.
