A Day Wasted

Oh Dr. King, why couldn’t you have been born in the summer? Spring or fall would have been a good back up.

What in the hell are we supposed to do a day of in the dead of winter?

Let’s see the Guiding Light and the Young and Restless is on; how about a basketball or football game. Nope.

I guess I could wash my Jeep if it wasn’t 18 friggin degrees outside. Golf is out of the question.

There are no MLK sales, movie releases, parties, nothing. Just take the day off and sit at home wasting a day that might as well be a work day.

Organizers should have planned this holiday better. Look at St Patrick’s Day for suggestions. We don’t even get the day off and it more fun than MLK day.

There should be some kind of tradition set for this day. If is works we could start MKL eve stuff but I am getting ahead of myself.

A party would be nice with a MLK traditional drink. We need to choose a meat for the meal. You have to be careful with that one. We need a game to watch on TV. There again let’s be sensitive.

I know, let’s give some more gifts, no everyone head to the slopes.

Maybe we are doing the best we can already. Everyone is spent out and getting a little sick of the winter. Can we move your birthday to April…please?

Are there any parades being televised? We could at least watch a parade in the morning. Of course, you are home so you get a chance to watch The View today. I'm sure you love that show.

Or maybe just watch Food Network all day.

Didn't they play NBA games on MLK Day last year? Seems like they did.

I have to agree with you. Not only is St. Pat's more fun, but even Cinco de Mayo is more of a player. At least Mexican beers and margaritas are on special that day at your local Mexican restaurant and they may even have obnoxious but festive Mariachi band.

Believe it or not, it's even a crummy day in Paradise. It's been wraining on and off all day. We don't mind, though because things usually start drying out in January, they turn brown in February and March. Fire danger in April and finally refreshing downpours in May.

These days, we're used to getting showers and having things clear up in ten minutes to a sparkling blue day. We're being played with by the gods today. But we don't mind the hills are going to green up again!

why are you home? I am here at work slaving away on this "so called Holiday"!
stay in bed and read a good book.

I don't read books....I hate to read books.

LOL... I wish I even had it off. All we got was an e-mail from the founder of our company saying that we honor his memory by working today... Ain't that a kick in the pants?

I took the day off work. If they get the day off, I should too. Might even wander over to the Parade later. Or maybe not.

I saw it was rainy there today, it would be a good day to visit the rum distillery if you were a tourist. Or hang on the water front and try the new releases at the brew pub.

I am glad it is getting all greened up down there for our visit. All I have seen for months are gray and brown sticks we call trees.

I had the day off, and it was mostly wasted. I was supposed to get crackin' on that %^$#$&* blue rover in the driveway. But it was raining, and I needed to settle a few electrical issues here around the house before the Solar guys finish connecting our new solar system into the existing panel.

I did succeed in swapping out a few bad light switches, and mapping all the circuits on our panel.

Then I went out to start on the car again... and again, it started raining.
