I think the thing I resent paying for most is printer ink...
There are lots of fun, expensive things, but I tend to choose carefully and always lag behind the technology until it reaches what I think of as a sensible price.
There is no fun in thermometers.
Adjusting a thermometer remotely on my iPhone sounds promising.
