Technical Difficulties
The blog is active but my choice app Blog Press is too buggy to post. Sorry for the interruption.

Word of the Day
svelte
svelt,sfelt/
adjective
(of a person) slender and elegant.
Such a cool word svelte. Who else tries and pairs an S with a V?
I use svelte whenever I can because life is short, and it's a cool word.
Now you go out and use svelte today.

There's A Story Here
My dog Georgie has one very bad habit. She forces herself out from under the huge fenced area to freedom.
The problem here is while I love her dearly, and she's not the smartest dog in the world, plus, she has one eye and is hard of hearing.
So I bopped over to Home Depot to buy some wooden stakes to stabilize the fence bottom and they wanted $2.25 a stake. Steak costs about the same.
HD has reject wood for 70% off so I made my own at a cost of 20 cents each.

The Amazon
They have electric ells, man eating fish, and other real monsters. Nope, I'm not going....ever.
Not on the bucket list.

NC Style BBQ
A few weeks ago I made pulled pork. It was wonderful, but brief. The refrigerator went out that very night and I had to throw most of it away.
Today I'm firing up another batch of BBQ. It takes about twelve hours to cook.
The sauce? It is a NC original and it takes months if not years to prepare.
Ingredients:
1 cup cider vinegar
2 tablespoons salt
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 teaspoon cayenne
1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
Preparation:
Mix all ingredients together. Let stand as long as possible, at least 1/2 a day, but the longer the better. The stuff I'm using now is a few years old.
I'll let this sit in the brown jug until football season. It ages like fine wine.

Sabbatical Over
I took my first blog sabbatical and it felt good and guiltless. Ever since my editor retired, I've been overwhelmed trying to run this blog.
So, the rest was needed. I am refreshed.
I had time to plan.
There was travel planning too. I'm headed to Napa this spring.
There was family time too.
I'm ready to go.
Tonight, I will attend a real live professional boxing match. Roy Jones, Jr.
