Midland, NC

This is my town Midland, NC. It is located about 10 miles east of Charlotte and includes a rather large unincorporated part of Cabarrus County. A few years ago Midland actually incorporated a much smaller area to become a real town.

This is the main business hub called the Crossroads, or the old timers call it Hell’s Half Acre.

Here is my RV at Crossroads Tires getting new tires. McCoy Seed and Feed is beside Crossroads. McCoy is where I get my chicken and horse feed.

There are two gas stations, a Subway, a small professional building, various small retailers and that is about it.

You gotta drive somewhere else for anything else, but I like it.

I have family in Midland and all over Stanly County too. Maiden name of Little. My daddy told me it was named Hell's Half Acre because there had been a honky-tonk there in the 1920s that was very scandalous. Drinking, dancing, cards - the usual gateways to hell. One night it collapsed and hurt everyone inside. It was the Lord's wrath according to what daddy told me the community was saying. It was never rebuilt. I was little and asked why didn't thy put a church there instead and daddy said "would you want to go to Hell's Half Acre Baptist Church?". Dad was a quick wit.
