Some stuff I'm anal about. I got tired of folks leaning on the bar and pushing the boards inwards. It looked sloppy.

Leaning = weight + pressure + gravity = downward.
No. It will keep it from some poor drunk slob from making it slide down the rail. It would take many hundreds of pounds of force to break the board downward.
