Way Back Machine

My dad used to smoke Chesterfield Cigarettes. The package looks so familiar.

My hometown of Durham wreaked of tobacco, and I liked that smell. The cigarettes were made locally at Leggett and Meyers Tobacco Company. We also had American Tobacco Company.

My dad smoked Lucky Strikes for a while when I was young. He quit for good when I was seven or eight years old, but those packages always make me think of him, sitting in the living room of our little house, watching t.v. after dinner.

My dad never had a smoke in his life but many a Black Label. All my uncles were Lucky Strike smokers.
