I collected my first two eggs yesterday afternoon. Gigi and I were so excited.
I had gone out to toss a muffin stump in the coop and decided for a look see and there they were two light brown eggs in a cartoon looking chicken nest.
I figure with the cost of the coop and the chickens that I was looking at 2 eggs worth $100 a piece. That’s okay…I’m having fun and living large.
I checked the nest box this morning and I was greeted by a big Golden Comet chicken ass settling down to lay an egg. Make that $67 an egg.

I don't know why I find this so damn endearing, but I do. Sounds like you are having such a great time with this! Cool.
Eggs already? Wow! I'm anticipating stories about the eggs now... cooking stories, omelette recipes...
That sounds great, eggs already.
Every single day right?
Micky I think they should lay every 28 hours.
The guy said expect them to be unsettled and not lay at all for a few days.
One is too young right now so I figure 4 to 6 eggs a day when they settle and ramp up.
I'll send you the chicken tractor plans if you and Bic want one.
Ah, yes, the local "Native" diet consisiting of chips and bakied goods. Give them some Pepsi, and they're sure to produece!
Just keep the insulin handy.
Sorry, just learning to type I guess. :)
We feed ours almost all of our chicken scraps...they especially love watermelon and tomatoes! And I got 13 eggs Friday and Kendall went out today and there were 16!!! I guess they're really hitting their stride now!! WAHOO!
Isn't it fun? :)
