Something I learned today.
It is wrong for car company executives to fly to Washington in corporate jets for a congressional hearing about car companies and the economy.
But it is alright to fly Air Force One with a two jet fighter escorts over New York City for a photo opportunity.
Help me understand this please.
Don't you think New York City folks might be a tiny bit jumpy about this concept?

It was ridiculous. Haven't they heard of Photoshop for God's sake?
If I lived in NYC I'd still be jumpy over the sound of a loud fart. I can only imagine their fear every time they even hear a plane.
I was in NYC about 2 months after 9/11 and every time you heard sirens it was just plain scary.
This is why we need to remake our country.
And why is Mr Green save the planet doing blowing tens of thousands of gallons of fuel on this crap?
I guess our tax money is his to do with as he pleases.
no joke
I think both incidents were ridiculous. And in both cases public and government outcry was swift and appropriate.
Where did you learn that "it is alright" to fly Air Force One with fighter jets over NYC for a photo op?
The reactions I read were:
"crass insensitivity"
"I'd call this felony stupidity" "defies the imagination"
"borders on being either cruel or very, very stupid."
"When President Obama learned of the episode on Monday afternoon, aides said, he, too, was furious"
Nowhere did I see anything that indicated anyone thought it was acceptable. So I'm a little confused by your comparison.
Purely a waste of my money (government money) on both cases.
The three government planes burned my money very efficiently. T
he bank jets burned government money at 30 cents on the dollar by bank nationalization.
You do know we (US Government) now own a majority interest in the banks and soon the car companies.
Hugo Chavez lives in America.
Wait…I’ll be nice we are only at day 99 of the new administration.
Cost of the flight....$328,000. Just for some pictures.
That's more than I make in a week.
Total baloney if you ask me.
Having moved to NC only 2 months ago from Flint, Mi - I grieve the demise of the American auto industry and the tough criticism and standards that they have been held to when not one bank or "Other" like publicity photo op "fail" is held accountable.
