Don't Forget Me When You Loot!

I worry far too much about friends when inclement weather is near. For example, I know Melackey is down in Texas getting pounded yet another time by rain.

Then there is Terri and Michael down in St Croix. I worried all week about that powerful hurricane Dean until it decided to clearly pass to the south.

I worry about the storms, but never consider the aftermath. It is now a popular pastime to loot after a disaster. I see that they are doing this in Peru right now after the earthquake.

We didn’t consider looting when we were hit by a hurricane back in 1989. Just as well, all that stuff would be old by now anyway.

Anyway…guys, if you plan to loot, I could use a 42 inch plasma TV. Nothing fancy, I’ll go legit on the surround sound.

it's coming down in buckets right now in Houston. This is just a bunch of rain. We're looking with nervious anticipation at what Dean is going to do next week.

Dean is making a bee line to ya.

what brand TV do you want? Of course, I bought my supplies already. 30 gallons of gas, 6 gallons of water (plus fill both bath tubs before the storm hits), a crap load of batteries, and enough ammo to fend off anyone coming after my TV... You know the rule - Those who beat their swords into plowshares will be forever ruled by those who kept their swords...

I have never understood looting but really have never been in a situation where I was around out.

Down here we don't need ammo to fend off the looters... we have 11 dogs. During a storm they don't get fed, a) because some are scared of thunder and won't eat anyway in inclement weather b) because we re-arrange the house to bring tham all in, sequestered in different rooms/bathrooms, and as Terry says "We don't want 11 dogs $^*%ing all over the house.

So by the time the storm passes and the looting starts, we have 11 very hungry dogs. No one that survives the storm with 1/2 a brain cell would consider coming near our place...

We also don't have any Plasma TVs.

PS. Dean did as expected, stayed waaaay south, a little more than expected even. We didn't really even get any rain to speak of. But now he's a Cat 4 and soon will be Cat 5, and headed straight for Jamaica. Ouch!
