How Many Times Have You Been Fired?

I have been fired from three jobs in my working career.

The first time was for incompetence, and I’ll admit that. I hated what I was doing and I did enough to get by. Still, it took a while for them to build up the nerve to fire me.

The second time I was fired was from a job I hated, but I was good at it. I was fired for insubordination. I can be a loud mouth smart-ass.

The third time I was fired was for big time insubordination from a big national company. I was almost literally tossed out the door. I can be a loud mouth smart-ass and a bit of a hot head. It cost me a lot of money but in the long run it boosted my career.

So I sat down and asked my self, “How’s this working for you Reg?”

I am still a loud mouth smart-ass and a bit of a hot head in my head, but I keep my thoughts to myself.

I have managed to stay gainfully employed since.

Sometimes though, it is fun to go down in a blaze of glory.

I guess I've been "let go" twice. Both people who I cared for a lot could not afford to pay me anymore. They were small businesses with seasonal flow (NO, I did not pick peaches!!) and so, I was the corner that got cut. Amazingly, (you know me, bud.)I have managed to hold my tongue and not be off the chain at work. BUT, not I own my own business and nobody can fire me! Moo-wah-hah-hah!

I can't remember ever being fired from an occupation. I have, however, fired my employers on many occasions.

I'm known to be a hot head at times, as well, and if my employer happens to be the cause of my anger, I will just walk out, never to return.

That's why self-employment is the best option for me. Oh, but one of my clients was frequently inconsiderate and disrespectful to me and did "let me go" because I was starting to resent kissing her butt every week. I would have "let her go" eventually, but she beat me to the punch. She's a real control freak local attorney.

I've never been fired...or let go (yet). It surprises me a little actually, since I'm somewhat of a loud mouth smart-ass myself.

I usually worked too hard and burned myself out then found another job, being unappreciated had a lot to do with it.

I've never been fired (technically).
There was this one time though, when I asked my boss for a leave of absence so I could go work out West.
He said he couldn't guarantee me any work if I left, so the following Monday when we got our paychecks, I excused myself to go get a drink of water, loaded up my tools, and hauled ass out of there. The only time I've ever burned any bridges...

Only one time and it was because I was dating someone in the company. They had a gay rule where you couldn't.

I've had... 6 Jobs in my life, and I've been fired from 2 of them... The first - Wendy's when I was in highschool... I kept taking time off to see my girlfriend (Alyssa) and eventually they got mad, and one day when I had to go to the hospital for an enflamed appendix they thought I was faking to get out of a shift, so they fired me. I hated that job anyway. The uniform made me question my sexuality - and the second, was a job within my current career, and their reasoning was "conflict of interest" - but I found out later they were just getting rid of people that were making more than the salary cap. It was the best thing that ever happend to me.
