Reggie’s Rum Runner

I found this cool rum recipe and can’t wait to give it a try. Terri and Michael, takes notes.

Take a cocktail shaker and fill it 3/4 with ice.

Now pour in two parts (ounces) of dark Cruzan rum. Then pour in one part of maple syrup. Then pour in one part fresh lime juice. Shake for 15 seconds and strain the mix into a chilled rocks glass. I think a chilled martini glass would be better personally. Garnish with a lime wedge.

How good would this be? The rum with the maple sweet and the acidity of the lime? I plan to go into the labs today to try this. I have already located a little bottle of Cracker Barrel maple syrup in the cabinet.

Sounds good, Reg, as long as it's real maple syrup. We wouldn't want to pollute our lovely island rum with anything less.

Oh yes...never the fake stuff and your island nectar shall meet on my watch.

I was thinking we could try this out while in Tortola, but I don't know if we can find "real" maple syrup there.

Then I remembered we found a nearly full quart of real Canadian maple syrup here at work Tuesday while doing some spring cleaning in the kitchen and I know there's a bottle of Estate Diamond above the fridge...

...Uuugh, somebody didn't read the fine print, that maple syrup should have been refrigerated.

Not if it hasn't been opened. If it has been opened it will be lumpy and stink all to be damned.

I have my 1.7 ounce Vermont maple syrup in my briefcase. I plan to stop by the club and have one myself. They don't carry Cruzan there though.
